14k TWO TONE GOLD JEWELRY

Two tone gold jewelry is so called because it is crafted from two colors of gold. In its purest form, gold is a yellow metal. However it is too soft to be used alone in fine jewelry and so it is alloyed with other metals for extra strength. The color and proportions of the metal alloy used to strengthen the gold determine the resultant gold color and purity.

For example, 18k white gold contains 75% pure yellow gold and 25% white metal alloy (such as silver). 14k rose gold contains 58.5% pure yellow gold and 41.5% red metal, such as copper.

Two tone gold jewelry is typically made from yellow gold and either white gold or rose gold of the same purity. This is because the different colors of the gold are most apparent when the colors are very dissimilar.

Yellow and rose gold colors can appear very similar, depending upon the quality of the gold. Because there is more copper in lower purities of rose gold, 9k or 10k yellow and rose gold will be much more distinct from each other in hue than, for example, 18k yellow and rose gold will be.

Yellow gold and white gold colors are the most widely available gold colors and so the majority of two tone gold jewelry combines yellow and white gold colors. Nevertheless, from time to time, two tone gold pieces in yellow and rose gold can be found and have a subtlety of color play that makes them especially pretty.

Reversibility is a big characteristic of two tone jewelry depending on the individual piece. In reversible jewelry, the two gold colors are not entwined to show off each color at the same time. Instead revesible piece, such as two tone gold bracelets and necklaces, are carefully crafted to show only one color at a time. This means that the wearer can reverse the two tone bracelet and effectively have two gold bracelets, each in a different color of gold!

This makes two tone gold jewelry very cost effective and an excellent choice for a gift!

Whatever style of two tone gold jewelry you are looking for, this collection of 18k and 14k two tone earrings and other pieces pieces is probably the most affordable anywhere online. Go on! Treat yourself or someone special to two tone gold jewelry!

Pearl jewelry has long been given as a romantic gift and, because pearls symbolise purity and innocence, the perfect complement to any bridal gown is pearl jewelry. Pearl jewelry is classic, whilst remaining contemporary and fashionable. Pearl jewelry is a traditional western gift for couples celebrating their 3rd anniversary but its timeless quality also makes the classic 30th wedding anniversary gift one of pearl jewelry.  Click on any of the links to buy your choice of stunning and affordable pearl jewelry.

Pearls are one of the oldest known gems and for centuries were considered even more valuable than diamonds by the ancient Romans and Egyptians. The passion for pearl jewelry has continued unabated throughout the ages.

Pearls originally form when a foreign body, such as a grain of sand or coral, finds its way into the shell of a freshwater or marine mollusc, usually a clam or an oyster. The pearl forms over many years as the mollusc’s defence mechanisms coats the foreign body with layer upon layer of a slightly iridescent substance called nacre.

Because harvesting of natural pearls of size and quality by open water divers was haphazard, pearl jewelry was historically very expensive. The thirst for pearl jewelry has resulted in the rise of pearl cultivation. Nowadays, a cultured pearl is created when a microscopic object is deliberately inserted into a mollusc to mimic the small foreign object at the heart of every pearl. Cultured pearls fall into four main categories: Freshwater pearls, and Akoya, Tahitian and South Sea saltwater pearls.

Pearls are graded by color, lustre, surface clarity, size and shape.Freshwater Multi-color Cultured Pearl 18-Inch Necklace (8-8.5mm)

The color of a pearl, or “body color”, is derived from the color of the mollusc shell so cultured pearls come in all the same colors as natural pearls.

Freshwater cultured pearls are mostly white, but can be pink or rose tinted. Akoya cultured pearls range from cream to pastel pinkish white. Tahitian cultured pearls are typically darker, ranging from greyish green to the expensive and much in-demand black pearls.

South Sea pearls are white, silver, pink, gold, cream, or any combination of these, and often have an orient of rainbow colors displayed in the pearl nacre, making them particularly beautiful.

As color preference is subjective, there is no such thing as a bad body color. Some pearls have a secondary colour or overtone, or “orient”, which is actually a result of subtle iridescence and lends pearls much of their allure. The depth of a pearl’s orient is important in determining the value of a pearl.

A pearl’s lustre, or shininess, is generally associated with depth of nacre. Bigger pearls, with thicker nacre layers, typically have greater lustre. Bigger pearls also take a long time to form, making them rare and more valuable.

Pearls often have slight natural surface abrasions, which can be overcome by clever setting into pearl jewelry. However the higher a pearl’s natural surface clarity, the more valuable it will be.

Perfectly round pearls are exceptionally rare and so command higher prices. Natural freshwater pearls are generally baroque, slug, or wing shaped. Jewelers often use irregular baroque pearls as accents in pearl jewelry. Cultured freshwater pearls tend to be oval or slightly elongated, whereas cultured Akoya, Tahitian, and South Sea pearls used in pearl jewelry tend to be rounder.

Because pearls are porous, pearl jewelry must be donned after applying makeup, perfume etc to keep it looking good. However, the oils from skin keeps pearl jewelry moist and looking at its best so wearing pearl jewellery often will actually improve its appearance over time.

PostHeaderIcon Does Buying Fine Jewelry Intimidate You?

Diamonds last for centuries so why not make the most of them? When you consider that a diamond worn as a symbol of love for a lifetime can be passed on to the next generation to treasure, then the diamond you’re buying today is literally the heirloom of the future.

Do you know how to choose an heirloom? Buying diamond jewelry can be intimidating enough without thinking of it as a multi-generational commitment. So you have to choose fine jewelry that suits your style and pleasure right now.

Once you own and wear fine jewelry, you’ll want to wear these pieces over and over again. Suddenly the cheap costume jewelry isn’t as satisfying. That’s why you come back to the jeweler to find the next, affordably elegant fine jewelry item to add to your wardrobe.

Before you shop for fine jewelry, decide what your personal style is and how you’re going to wear those pieces. If you stay within your style, you can clearly communicate to the jeweler what you want to see.

For example, asking to see a “gold and diamond bracelet” might be diamonds on a braided chain for a classic style person compared with jagged line gold cuff with diamond swirls for a person with bold style. When the fine jewelry piece complements your style, then it’s right for you!
